Accounting Jobs to Be in High Demand

A new report from Michigan State University indicates that one of the highest jobs to soon be in demand will be in the accounting sector. A more stable job market overall is foreshadowed, and in addition to accounting, some in-demand careers are expected to include those in the fields of computer science, engineering, communications, human resources, and finance in general. Companies with up to 100 employees are expected to hire an average of seven employees each, which translates to a 35% increase from the previous year. Other job fields that are expected to rise within the next year include those in the health, natural resources, agriculture, and communications areas.

Is It Worth It?

A good friend of mine is considering working at an insurance company because it is in walking distance from her apartment, and she is currently out of work. The thing is, she’s very nontraditional, like me, and worries that it will be so boring that she will hate it. Having never worked in an insurance office, I can’t make an educated guess—but going by what I’ve heard, I think she may be right. I told her that maybe she could enliven it up a little, but I’d love to hear from people who work in insurance offices—especially those who consider themselves nontraditional people who would rather work in a free school or as a bartender or something rather than such a traditional career setting!—or who have worked in one in the past.Is it worth it? Is it as boring as it sounds?
Accounting Jobs in High Demand

I know several accountants or graduates of accounting programs, and they seem to be the most versatile people when it comes to landing a job. Of the handful I know, only half work as actual accountants; the others work in secretarial and retail positions.
